In the year 2000, the public learned of the existence of a huge atomic shelter, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, which could have been used as a protection for 350 people in case of an atomic incident.
On the mountain Zlatar, not far from Konjic there is a place known as Tito’s bunker. Until the discovery of its the true purpose, interior and imposing underground content and size, it was only a house that was in the middle of nowhere, as people like to say. More than 30 years ago, this atomic shelter was built, as the main command post of the former JNA. The construction lasted for 26 years, and $ 4.6 billion was invested. Only four official commanders knew about the facility, and the workers who had to sign the silent contract.
In about an 1-hour long drive to Konjic, amazing city in Herzegovina with a lot of history, You will be getting closer to the Bunker.
